Save Our VA National Project (or SOVA) is asking for your help.

To:  VFP Chapter Current and Lapsed Chapter 27

Please join the session on April 8, 2021.  Details below.

The Save Our VA National Project (or SOVA) is asking for your help.  A part of the MISSION Act of 2018 was to create the A.I.R. (Asset and Infrastructure Review) Commission to evaluate VA facilities and recommend whether to close, replace, expand or repurpose them.  Congress can only approve or disapprove of their recommendations in an up or down vote and cannot make any changes.

This process has started.  One component is holding listening sessions in each VA coverage area.  We are asking you to encourage your members to join these sessions and let them know their thought on what they want from the VA in the future.  Below is the information about the listening session for your area with a link to sign up to participate:

SOVA is asking you to sign up for the session.  If you have allies in VA employee unions (such as AFGE), in other VSOs or other veterans using VA health care, contact them as well.

If you want to see the time and dates for all facilities, click on this link  Local Listening Sessions on the Future of VA Health Care – Chief Strategy Office

We’re also attaching VHPI’s (Veterans Healthcare Policy Institute) comments to the Federal Register on the A.I.R. Commission.  It gives information about the issues and their recommendations and can be useful to read before attending the session.

We appreciate your support in this critical matter.  If you have questions, want to do more or give us information, contact any member of the Steering Committee.
