The Nuclear Fuel Chain: From Cradle to Grave
A virtual event with Leona Morgan of the Nuclear Issues Study Group
Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. CST Women Against Military Madness Zoom and Facebook. Speaking via Zoom from Albuquerque, Leona Morgan will address the connected issues of nuclear bombs and nuclear power. The first nuclear bomb ever developed from uranium mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo and exploded in New Mexico, a prelude to dropping the bomb on Hiroshima during WWII. Today, nuclear power plants throughout the U.S. generate nuclear waste, and its transportation to the Southwest for storage threatens the lives and health not only of people living in the area, but that of others everywhere.
